Embracing the Crazy #1

So I know an issue for many readers is that there always seems to be far to many books and not nearly enough time to read them. This leads to the dreaded ever increasing TBR pile which generally grows at a far faster rate then it is possible to read. Quite recently I have decided to just embrace the crazy and not be concerned with just how many books  I am adding, I enjoy finding new books to read and I do hope to get round to them eventually. I also gain far to much enjoyment discovering more and more books reading everyone else’s lovely reviews. So in light of this new acceptance I have decided to highlight some of the books and the reviews that went with them that have convinced me to add these book to my TBR, hence ‘Embracing the Crazy’. Just to try and keep it relatively short I decided to include just one book from Monday to Friday to highlight.

The Rules:

 – Choose one book through Monday to Friday that a review from a fellow blogger got you to add it to your TBR.

 – Include a synopsis, picture and link back to the original blog

– Link back to FNM so I can read all of the books that made the cut

And that’s it Enjoy!

My Fairy Godmother is a Drag Queen – David Clawson

Goodreads Synopsis

Chris Bellows is just trying to get through high school and survive being the only My Fairy Godmother Is a Drag Queenstepchild in the social-climbing Fontaine family, whose recently diminished fortune hasn’t dimmed their desire to mingle with Upper East Side society. Chris sometimes feels more like a maid than part of the family. But when Chris’s stepsister Kimberly begins dating golden boy J. J. Kennerly, heir to a political dynasty, everything changes. Because Chris and J. J. fall in love . . . with each other.

With the help of a new friend, Coco Chanel Jones, Chris learns to be comfortable in his own skin, let himself fall in love and be loved, and discovers that maybe he was wrong about his step-family all along. All it takes is one fairy godmother dressed as Diana Ross to change the course of his life.

My Fairy Godmother is a Drag Queen is a Cinderella retelling for the modern reader. The novel expertly balances issues like sexuality, family and financial troubles, and self-discovery with more lighthearted moments like how one rogue shoe can launch a secret, whirlwind romance and a chance meeting with a drag queen can spark magic and light in a once dark reality

The Upside of Unrequited – Becky Albertalli

Goodreads Synopsis

The Upside of UnrequitedSeventeen-year-old Molly Peskin-Suso knows all about unrequited love—she’s lived through it twenty-six times. She crushes hard and crushes often, but always in secret. Because no matter how many times her twin sister, Cassie, tells her to woman up, Molly can’t stomach the idea of rejection. So she’s careful. Fat girls always have to be careful.

Then a cute new girl enters Cassie’s orbit, and for the first time ever, Molly’s cynical twin is a lovesick mess. Meanwhile, Molly’s totally not dying of loneliness—except for the part where she is. Luckily, Cassie’s new girlfriend comes with a cute hipster-boy sidekick. Will is funny and flirtatious and just might be perfect crush material. Maybe more than crush material. And if Molly can win him over, she’ll get her first kiss and she’ll get her twin back.

There’s only one problem: Molly’s coworker Reid. He’s an awkward Tolkien superfan with a season pass to the Ren Faire, and there’s absolutely no way Molly could fall for him. Right?

Once and For All – Sarah Dessen

Goodreads Synopsis32078787

As bubbly as champagne and delectable as wedding cake, Once and for All, Sarah Dessen’s thirteenth novel, is set in the world of wedding planning, where crises are routine.

Louna, daughter of famed wedding planner Natalie Barrett, has seen every sort of wedding: on the beach, at historic mansions, in fancy hotels and clubs. Perhaps that’s why she’s cynical about happily-ever-after endings, especially since her own first love ended tragically. When Louna meets charming, happy-go-lucky serial dater Ambrose, she holds him at arm’s length. But Ambrose isn’t about to be discouraged, now that he’s met the one girl he really wants.
