So just before Christmas I had a little too much alcohol and decided that it would be an absolutely great idea to go onto to NetGalley and see what books just happened to be available. Towards the end of last year, I had slowly been working my way through my shelf, finishing those last few reviews, so that I could start the new year all caught up. I was on track and things had been looking good haha.
Turns out when you’re a little bit tipsy you may lose pretty much all your self-control and go on a requesting spree! (It may not have helped that there were so many great books to choose from but I digress). Don’t worry I thought when I realized just how many books I had seen fit to request, I’m sure I won’t be approved for all of them…. Checking my emails I had only been approved for two, oh good I was thinking, that’s not so bad, definitely manageable. It’s now three weeks later and I have a grand total of 22 books casually just sitting on my shelf. Welp. To put this into a bit of perspective I counted the other day and found out I had only reviewed a whopping total of 20 books for the whole of last year! 20! Now I do plan to do a whole lot more reading, reviewing and blogging for this year but when you add up my author requests, blog tours I’m on and you know books I’m going to go and purchase for myself that’s a whole lot of books! Oops. On the other hand, I am really happy that I have so many really promising looking books to read but it’s a tad overwhelming haha. Anyway, I thought I would include the first 5 down below so you can see what upcoming reviews I have!

This is worse.

After all, friends look out for each other, don’t they?
I Invited Her In is a blistering tale of wanting what you can’t have, jealousy and revenge from Sunday Times bestseller Adele Parks.
5. The Man I fell in Love with by Kate Field
Sometimes we find happiness where we least expect it…
After twenty years of quiet, contented marriage, Mary Black can’t help but find her eyes drawn to a particularly handsome man at a Christmas party. But her world is suddenly turned upside down when she sees her husband next to him, holding his hand.
For the sake of her children, Mary has no choice but to pick herself up and start again. She hosts family meals that includes her ex-husband and his new partner. She copes with her children wanting to spend less time with her, and more time with their “fun” dads. And she tries her very best to ignore Leo’s gorgeous brother, who has been living in New York for many years, but has just come back to town…
After living a life of sliding doors and missed opportunities, can Mary finally put herself first and take a chance that could change everything?
A wonderfully uplifting novel full of wisdom, spirit and charm – this is a love story with a difference…
These all sound good, looking forward to your reviews of them. I’ve been tempted by the Adele Parks one a few times but never quite took the plunge. I’ve only ever read one of her books “The State We’re In which I really enjoyed but seem to recall thinking it a bit slow to get going but a brilliant ending.

Oh I think we have all suffered at one time or another itchy fingers especially for free books. I am so so guilty and I didn’t even drink! Happy Reading!

Haha I have been guilty without drink I just normally have a little bit more self control then that, or at least get rejected for a few books!

Haha! I can do that without alcohol! I have just been and requested the Adele Parks. Happy reading 💕📚

I think the takeaway from this post is that if we drink while surfing Netgalley we have an excuse!

I like it lol I think this may be my new favorite excuse once I get through my current list haha

Oh my, lol! I don’t think that I’ve ever requested more than 2 at a time, LOL! I guess it’s better than online shopping while tipsy because I know I could do some serious damage that way! At least you’re set for books for a while and have some great sounding books to review. 🙂

Haha I have requested more than 2 before but never quite 20 lol! Oh well hopefully it makes me actually sit down and read!

I’m always afraid of requesting too many in case they say no…maybe not, lol. I’d stress though with that many books to review. I’m sure you’ll read them eventually.

Exactly just means I really need to sit down and focus on my reviewing haha

That’s hard too though I think because sometimes, or at least I do, you just want to read, lol.

I’m sorry, i shouldn’t laugh, but this is funny. I agree with Sandy, i don’t need the alcohol to go on a requesting spree. Enjoy all your coices and Happy New Year. 😄

Well there are worse problems to have, I’d wager. 😂 Fortunately it looks like you’ve got a lot of great reads ahead of you. Coming Home to Holly Close Farm is divine.

Great post lol. I have faith in you getting it done. I confess to requesting so many books when I first joined that i got overwhelmed and gave up for quite a while…maybe a year or so before I went back and cleaned up the mess as best I could and started fresh. Restraint is not easy when we see books we really want, even when they are months off 🙂

Thanks for the vote of confidence haha I’m trying to be optimistic but it is a tad overwhelming!

#bookbloggerproblems LOL! Have you noticed a trend with book covers? Many of them have similar styles.

I have noticed most the books I tend to request do have similar covers Haha

Hahaha! Yeah, I remember the click sprees where you assume that you’ll get a couple if you’re lucky and then… gulp! I live in dreams of hitting the 80% mark for feedback, let alone clearing the decks.

Haha I just checked and I’m at 68% so maybe by the end of the year I can back up to 80 if you know I don’t request anything lol
