Weave of Love (1)

Synopsis

What if your choices have devastating consequences for others?
How can anyone know the right thing to do?

Leonie chose to sacrifice everything to save other people. Now those around her have to Weave of Love (Choices and Consequences, #3)face the consequences – and those consequences are not what they expected.

Prospero must deal with his own guilt. He was the one who gave Leonie the tools she needed – her life was in his hands. To make the most of what she did, he will have to face up to all the family issues he has avoided for so long. Whatever he chooses to do, someone he loves will be hurt. For Leonie’s sake, is he now strong enough to make the choice he couldn’t make before?

The crisis predicted by Lord Gabriel has come and gone. But his task isn’t over. Leonie’s very existence maybe out in the open but Gabriel discovers that the past is never what it seems – and nor is the present. How can he use what he now knows to bring together those who have been enemies for as long as anyone can remember? If he fails in this, everything he’s had to do so far will be in vain.

Thank you to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Weave of Love is the third book in the Choices and Consequences series and it definitely left me wanting more! The book itself I felt was a bit slow-paced at times but I think that’s probably what was needed for this book. I loved getting to see the relationships and the characters develop more and this is a book that seems once it has captured your attention makes you want to rush through to find out exactly what’s going to happen! I loved Leonie’s and Perry’s relationship and although at times the book definitely had a sad tone and feel to it I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next.

About the Author

Rachel J Bonner is the author of the compelling and enthralling four book Choices and Weave of Love Author PhotoConsequences series.  The first book in the series, Strand of Faith, was published in November 2018. Book 2, Thread of Hope, released on 2nd May 2019, followed by Weave of Love on 24th October, and Cloth of Grace at the end of February 2020.

Getting a degree in engineering, followed by a career in accountancy is probably not a conventional path to becoming an author, particularly in fantasy or romance.  Rachel says that, although accountancy isn’t anything like as boring as everyone thinks, writing is a lot more fun.  When not writing, she can be found walking in the beautiful countryside near where she lives, which has influenced much of the scenery in her books, or shooting things with her local archery club.  Shooting targets only, honest.  Nothing to worry about. (Okay, sometimes we shoot Polo mints. Or cabbages. Still nothing to worry about.)

She also enjoys swimming, eating chocolate chip cookies and growing aromatic herbs, especially thyme and rosemary.  It’s no coincidence that her heroine likes the same things.

What if your secrets are so dangerous they could destroy the one you love?
Is honesty always the best policy?

Leonie may have run away but Prospero will find her. He loves her and he wants a future with her by his side whatever the consequences. Only when he does find her, he ought to tell her who he really is, outside the monastery. That’ll make her run again. Dare he risk it? But if he doesn’t tell her, someone else may…

Marriage to Prospero is what Leonie wants most and the one thing she knows she can’t have. If he found out what she was really like, what she’d been, what she’d done, he’d despise her and she couldn’t bear that. Better to leave now than live a lie – but it’s harder than she expected. If only…

Gabriel is starting to discover the secrets inherent in Leonie, secrets that not even she knows, secrets that will tear the world apart. And the secrets he is keeping are tearing him apart. How can sacrificing those he loves possibly achieve peace when everything he discovers risks the death of millions?

When the choice is between love and life, how can anyone decide?

In a post-apocalyptic future, a girl and a monk, both with extraordinary mental powers, have compelling reasons not to fall in love. But their choices will have consequences for the rest of the world.

After the troubles of his youth, Brother Prospero has found comfort and fulfilment in the monastery. Then he discovers something that forces him to reconsider his whole vocation. How can it possibly be right to leave a life of worship and service for human desire? And if he does leave, will the pressures from his past destroy him?

Orphaned and mistreated, Leonie has found sanctuary and safety at the Abbey. When she comes into contact with Prospero everything spirals out of her control. Everyone she’s ever loved has died. She can’t do that to him. But how can she walk away from the first place she’s truly belonged?

Abbot Gabriel is faced with an impossible choice. He can do nothing and watch the world descend into war. Or he can manipulate events and ensure peace – at the cost of two lives that he is responsible for. Is he strong enough to sacrifice those he loves?

Her choice will affect not just her family, not just those she knows but tens, hundreds of thousands, millions of people that she doesn’t. And every path that’s open to her will put Perry under the pressures that caused his breakdown before. How can she do what she must and still protect Perry?

Perry desperately wants to make things easier for Leonie. Somehow he has to find the strength to face the things that all but destroyed him in the past. But every way he turns some aspect of his past lies waiting to pounce – even during his happiest moments. And he can never forget that Leonie’s life is in danger from someone, somewhere. That danger may be much closer to home than anyone suspects.

Gabriel has managed to negotiate peace, at least in theory. Now he must put that into practice and reunite Leonie with the family she never knew she had. Then disaster strikes right in the middle of his own sanctuary. Can he still protect those he loves, or has he been harbouring a villain the whole time?

Thank you to the author and Rachels Random Resources for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great uplifting read that focuses on finding yourself after heartbreak and betrayal and to try and always focus on the positives in life. It also had the unique twist of adding Bruce Springteen’s songs into the mix. I really enjoyed getting to see Sofia’s transformation as well as really experiencing all of the emotions that she experiences throughout her story. Although this wasn’t a story with many twists and turns it’s one I can see myself reading again and again.

This was a great drama-filled entertaining Christmas read! This is the third in the series for the Pennington Department store series and having read the second one I was very excited to get into this one. While I think this can definitely be read as a standalone I really enjoyed going back into the world the author has created. What I really enjoy about these books is not only are you transported back to an earlier time but the author creates such strong well developed characters that it’s incredibly easy to not only get behind them but to be generally interested in what they’re going to do and how their stories will develop. There is a fair amount going on but I didn’t find myself confused or going back to figure it all out at any point so that was also great. All in all a really enjoyable read!

This was a really great entertaining novel that although I didn’t take the path I was expecting it too, really made me laugh out loud and have an altogether enjoyable time throughout. I loved the cast of characters all of which really brought something a little bit extra to the novel as well as their relationships with each other. I also loved the different places and settings and how the author was able to incorporate it all. Though perhaps it went on a tad longer than I was expecting it’s one I will definitely be reading again.

Her favourite go-to novel is (Pride and Prejudice)- and she’s always happy to watch ( Bridgett Jones) any time of the day. Among Gracie’s interests are Newfoundland dogs, horses, and handsome Yorkshire men. Her idea of fun would be to ride a spirited horse along a Northumberland beach, followed by a pack of her favourite dogs.

This was a book that was definitely not what I was expecting! Not only was this a great contemporary read, but it is also a book that really made you think, question and evaluates\ your environmental impact. Not only is this a great subject to consider anyway, but the way the author has incorporated this into the story also makes it a really fun way to learn about things you may of not already been aware of.

Fiona herself is an incredibly relatable character who really stands by what she believes in, I loved the challenges throughout the story as well as how everything was ultimately resolved. The story moves at a good pace and I really found myself absorbed within Fiona’s world. A great story with a strong message.

Thank you to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was such an interesting novel and I really found myself getting heavily invested into everything that was going on. I think for me having read so little books set in Russia during any time it added an unexpected extra bit of intrigue and enjoyment as not only did I get to immerse myself in the story and the characters, but I got to learn about a time and a place I don’t often get to ‘experience’.

As mentioned I loved getting to know all of the characters and all of the different perspectives that this brings, although it did start out a slowish pace, the writing really brought everything all together. I also felt that this was such an original story that once again not only kept it interesting throughout but really added to the enjoyment. A great read!

I really loved the sound of this book, the blurb got me hooked and the book definitely didn’t disappoint! This was a great story full of plenty of plot twists and surprises and I found it really easy to get into. Lisa was a really well written and relatable character and although it took me a bit more to warm up to AJ it was great to see both of their development. This is a story that really takes you away with it and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. A great start to the Lisa Millar series and I look forward to the next books!

Soon, Maddy is swapping spreadsheets for volunteer duty at the library, daily Starbucks for cups of tea with elderly neighbours, and her Prada handbag for doggy poo bags… And with Beth’s gorgeous brother, Alex, back from the States, Maddy starts to think that Giddywell Grange might just be her happy place.

But when her old life – and her old boyfriend – comes calling, will Maddy go back to the job she loved so much? Or will she discover that the key to happiness lies in making others happy?

Thank you to the author and Rachels Random Resources for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a sweet feel-good novel which had the added bonus of a doggie daycare! After 10 years putting all of her time and effort into her career, Maddie suddenly finds herself unemployed an no longer ‘on top’. I loved getting to know Maddie and see has she transitions into a simpler life, it’s a story to really help you put into perspective what’s important in life and where you really want to be putting your time and effort. It wasn’t a story with too many shocking surprises but it was exactly what I expected and let’s be honest what I wanted when I went into the book. I also loved the authors writing style and really felt like I was able to lose myself within the book. An awesome 4 star read!

This is a fast-paced humorous novel that takes on the effects Social Media can have on a couple. As it’s a Novella the story itself seemed short and sweet and I really liked all of the sarcasm and humor that came through. To be honest, both Zeke and Angelique were both quite annoying at times but I think they needed to be for this Novella to work. I also really liked how the author was able to show the absolute crazy side of social media and just how insane it can make people. A great funny four-star read.

Book Review: Two Tides to Turn by R.R. Gall @rararesourses

Two Tides To Turn

Synopsis

A family ripped asunder.
A terrible secret lurks in a thrilling novel of love, grief, and mystery. Two Tides To Turn

Patrick thought his grandfather, John, died before he was born.
In later life, he finds out that it wasn’t true. For the first five years of Patrick’s life, they stayed in the same small village.
So why were they kept apart?

Patrick wishes to search the past to find the reason – but only if he can be united with his young daughter first.
And that means bringing her home to Scotland.
It means journeying to France to take her away from the care of her mother, Patrick’s ex-wife.

In 1915, with the war raging in Europe, John is a young man working on the family farm. Not yet old enough to enlist but aware of its looming threat, he meets Catherine. But his attempts at courtship end suddenly when an accident rips his life apart.

Told in alternate chapters, set, mainly, in South-West Scotland, this is the dramatic story of Patrick, interwoven with John’s traumatic life.

Thank you to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a really captivating novel told in dual timelines telling the story of both Patrick and John. What I really liked about the storytelling was the amount of detail and knowledge the author was able to show about within both timelines and you could really get a sense of what period of time you were currently reading about from the author’s descriptions, sometimes I find in dual timelines I’m not able to really distinguish the actual time period with the only difference being the carrying characters, so it was great to see this within the story. The story itself had a few twists and turns and was set at a good pace. The characters were well developed though it may have been nice to see a little more depth from the female characters within the story. Overall a very interesting ad worthwhile read.
